First Notice! AMETFO Elections

Hello AMETFO Members,

We will be holding elections for the following positions at our Union Local Annual Meeting on

Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. in Mitchell:

President

Vice President

Collective Agreement Officer

Treasurer

Executive Member at Large (minimum of 7 and maximum of 9)

According to Article IX of our Union Local Constitution, you are being notified of the request for nominations at least 45 days prior to the Union Local Annual Meeting.

If you wish to stand for a position, please use the Google nomination form click here to indicate your intentions. The deadline for receipt of nominations is Friday, April 3rd, 2026.

Notwithstanding the above, nominations duly moved and seconded and with the consent of the nominee, shall be accepted at the Annual Meeting only for positions for which no nominations have been received. This shall not preclude a candidate from dropping down to stand for another position.

Candidates shall have the opportunity to address the Annual Meeting before the election. This address may not exceed three (3) minutes. The election shall be by secret ballot. Each candidate may appoint a scrutineer to observe the counting of the ballots for that candidate’s election.

Campaigning will be limited to a one page campaign message in static text and still photo (in PDF format) which will be posted on the ametfo.ca website in the Members Only section.  The campaign message (in PDF format) must be forwarded by Friday, April 3, 2026 by 4:00 PM to barbara.maschke@ed.amdsb.ca. PDFs will be posted to the website 20 days prior to the Annual General Meeting on, Wednesday, April 8, 2026. The campaign message posting process will be overseen by the elections committee. The AMDSB gmail, website and courier are not to be used for campaign purposes under any circumstances. No campaign materials will be distributed at the election site. Any candidate who violates campaign guidelines will have his or her name taken off the ballot for that election.

We wish to thank, in advance, all those who are willing to stand for election and encourage all members to vote. If you have any questions or concerns, please email barbara.maschke@ed.amdsb.ca.

Respectfully,

The Elections Committee
