As you know, it has recently been announced that bricks and mortar schools in Avon Maitland will be returning to in-person learning on Monday, February 8. The Local has held many discussions with the board in recent days, both about workload and technology issues.
These discussions have led to the agreement that Friday, February 5 will be a day that teachers can use for the professional activities necessary to complete the term and/or transition back to in-person learning.
Teachers may log into their google classroom at the beginning of the day, and give general instructions for how students should use the day (to prepare for the return to class, work on assignments, etc). It is anticipated that this would take no more than 15 minutes.
Both Remote-School and Brick and Mortar Teachers may then use the day to complete self-directed professional activities, on-site or at home, based on their own professional judgement.
