A message from the ETFO Provincial Office;
“We have seen throughout the pandemic how social media can be a great tool to shift conversations and build engagement on important issues. Social media offers the opportunity to proactively get in front of issues and generate momentum. We know our members played a role in shifting conversations on paid sick days because of their social media presence.
On June 2, 2021 we mark one year from the next provincial election. As part of ETFO’s campaign to defeat the Ford Conservative government we will be encouraging members to share content on social media about the importance of organizing ahead of the next election, using the hashtag #MobilizeFor2022 .
We want to put the Ford government on notice and remind them that educators will continue to organize in their communities over the next year to champion safe high-quality public education, smaller classes, paid sick days and more. We also want to remind Ontarians that our members have been at the forefront of the pandemic and that together with our community allies we can have a powerful collective voice in the recovery plan when the pandemic finally recedes.
We will also reach out to our members and supporters directly through the Building Better Schools platform. Over the summer we will begin to offer some training programs related to election organizing and will continue with our community organizing. We will continue to update you as the campaign unfolds.”
